Mehwish Hayat is a Pakistani actress, model, and singer. She is best known for her roles in the romantic comedy Punjab Nahi Jaungi (2017) and the social drama Load Wedding (2018). She was the first Pakistani actress to receive the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest civil awards in Pakistan, in recognition of her achievements in the entertainment industry. Mehwish Hayat has been credited with bringing about a change in Pakistan's entertainment industry. She has been a vocal advocate for the empowerment of women in Pakistan and has actively taken part in various campaigns to promote women's rights. Her recent campaigns include the #MeriJaanPakistan (#MyDearPakistan) campaign, which she initiated in response to the rising number of hate crimes against women in the country. In 2019, she was named one of the "Wonder Women" by the British magazine Grazia, in recognition of her work in promoting women's rights in Pakistan. She was also chosen as the first female diplomat for Pakistan by the United Nations. Mehwish Hayat is also an active philanthropist.
